CO2 emissions in the first half of 2025 are 0.7% higher than in 2024
The Carbon Monitor website, set up by Chinese and American academics, estimates that global CO2 emissions will continue to rise in 2025 at an annual rate of 0.7%, after increasing by 0.8% in 2024. However, this growth masks disparities. Emissions from China and India fell by 2.7% and 2.16% respectively. In contrast, US emissions have risen by 4.13%. The United States is the world's second largest emitter after China, with emissions accounting for 13% of global emissions.
