CO2 emissions from sites subject to the EU ETS cut by 16% by 2023

CO2 emissions from sites subject to the EU ETS fell by 16% in 2023. In total, emissions reached 1,097 million tonnes last year: 506 million tonnes were emitted by electricity and heat production facilities, and 590 million tonnes by industrial sites. Emissions in the energy production sector fell by 24% compared with 2022, and those in industry by 9%.
