CO2 emissions from sectors covered by the EU ETS rose by 3% in the first quarter

CO2 emissions from the sectors covered by the European Emissions Trading Scheme rose by 3% in the second half of 2025. The increase came from the aviation and maritime transport sectors. Emissions from industry fell by 1.2% in the first half of the year. Emissions from the steel sector fell significantly (-6%) as a result of falling demand for steel products and the aggressive behaviour of Chinese companies.
