Centrica is expected to invest in the construction of two new nuclear reactors in Sizewell
Centrica is expected to take a 15% stake in the Sizewell C nuclear project. The cost of the project is estimated at £40 billion. Centrica would have a stake equivalent to that of EDF, which sought to reduce its percentage stake in the project after the withdrawal of its Chinese partner CGNPC. Centrica already holds a 20% stake in the holding company that owns the company through which EDF operates the British nuclear power plants. Brookfield Asset Management may also invest in the Sizewell C project. Apollo, the American private equity fund, is also reportedly willing to provide £4.5 billion in financing for the Hinkley Point C project developed by EDF.
