Azerbaijan will not be able to compensate for a halt in Russian gas supplies via Ukraine

Azerbaijan intends to take advantage of a possible halt in Russian gas supplies via Ukraine to increase its gas deliveries to Europe. However, an examination of Azerbaijan's immediate resources shows that it will only be able to supply Europe with a fraction of the Russian gas currently transiting via Ukraine (around 16 billion cubic metres).
