The German regulator Bundesnetzagentur has declared unsuccessful the tender for two offshore wind farm projects with a total capacity of 2.5 GW, as no bids were submitted. The German wind energy association BWO points out that the tender was doomed to failure given the risks borne by the operators. The organization is calling for the introduction of contracts for difference to reduce the risks borne by producers. Offshore wind capacity in Germany stands at 9.2 GW. The German government has set a target of 30 GW by 2030 and 75 GW by 2045, which it now has little chance of achieving. The tender is expected to be relaunched in June 2026.
