40% of electricity-intensive German manufacturers are considering relocating their operations
According to a study by the Federal Chamber of Commerce, 40% of electricity-intensive German manufacturers are considering relocating their operations. Electricity market prices remain very high in Germany (€95/MWh for the 2025 timetable, €87/MWh for the 2026 timetable), compared with an average price of around €40/MWh during the 2015-2019 period. The German Minister for the Economy had envisaged introducing a preferential tariff for industry, but the project could not be implemented due to a lack of political agreement within the coalition in power in Germany.
